Motivation Robotics: Announcing Our Robotics Department

As of May 2, 2026, we have cleared the funding for our robotics department.

Robotics is an advanced field, and we are happy to start going from software -> motion. Our team is actively being assembled, and we are working the details out for a roadmap.

The first step will likely be the construction of TAAR 1, a 5 axis robotic arm with completely custom firmware, advanced motion planning, and entirely 3D printed components. This is our "stepping stone" into more advanced systems. The goals of this project are simple:

  • Demonstrate Rust-based robotics firmware on the STM32 micro-controller
  • Take advantage of 3D printed components (anything that can be 3D printed will be)
  • Prove gears > belts for small projects

We are excited for the future going forward.
